 Mastering engineer Chris Johnson will bring experience and ingenuity to the job, doing the right thing for the music- even building equipment or coding custom, proprietary software to meet the need. Chris has been the behind-the-scenes guy resorted to by other mastering engineers when they faced unusual situations. He's been called a "mad scientist who isn't mad", and turned to with many questions, like a teacher, or like the researcher that he has always been.

 Chris still does CD mastering, but the plugin business has made it possible for Chris only to take such mastering projects as he believes in, at more reasonable prices. That doesn't mean projects will be rejected on musical grounds: it means that modern day commercial master levels are too loud and obnoxious and don't let the music express its energy properly. Superhot masters are soooo '2006'. The music done that way will be forgotten not because of its musical character, but because you can't hear the musical character. It's squashed and featureless. Who needs that?

 For as little as $30 a song (FTP style: add $10 + shipping for physical media, add $20 per recall) we're not in the same business as the superhot, commercial-style mastering guys. Go to them for competitively loud, not here. Airwindows can almost always cleanly get six to nine db loudness boost- cleanly- so we're not talking stuff that sounds totally unmastered. It just sounds like when music was good.
