Airwindows is one guy: me! I am an audio hacker and computer programmer from way back. I seek only to continue my life up here in Vermont, inventing things and putting them onto the internet, sometimes for free and sometimes for pay. My hope is that people richer than me (i.e. most people) don't rob me. My other hope is for another cup of Aeropress. One out of two ain't bad!

Iron Oxide 4

IronOxide4Demo is a tape emulation AU universal binary plugin. It’s old school tape emulation. Unlike ToTape, Iron Oxide 4 doesn’t present a realistic tape model with wide-range sound—instead, it traps in the sound in the lows and highs and lets you make it bark. This is the one for putting on isolated tracks and cranking out, […]

Logical2Demo was an intermediate stage of Logical, transitioning between the original Logical with its convolution-based SSL color and Logical3 with its full set of controls made to work like familiar buss comps. Logical2 had none of that, though it sounded good. It had only two controls, an input and output gain. It was about trying […]

ToTape3Demo was the precursor to ToTape4. It’s the ‘high-resolution’, realistic emulation in contrast to Iron Oxide, which is the ‘for effect’, tape-slam sort of plugin. ToTape doesn’t tend to have striking changes in behavior version by version, because it’s toward an emulation target that is itself very high-resolution. It’s about mimicking the tone of magnetic tape […]

Iron Oxide 3

IronOxide3Demo added tape flutter to Iron Oxide, and tuned the antialiasing. This is much like ToTape: the basic concept of the plugin doesn’t change that much, though 3 added flutter and 4 added an inv/dry/wet mix control. These are the tape effects, not there to be radically reinvented each year. If you like this one best, […]

BitGlitterDemo started out as a universal binary AU plugin for emulating the sound of the classic Emu SP-1200 sampler, widely used in rap music—and then grew into kind of a monster. People don’t always ‘get’ why you’d use an old digital device with limitations to the sound and frequency response, not to mention a 12 bit […]

DubSubDemo is all things subsonic and bass! It can generate dubstep style sub-basses, fill in the bottom octave, octave-divide, synthesize house kicks from raw materials, and it defaults to a nice SansAmp-style bass tone! Signal flow goes from top to bottom, so get sounds by starting with the grind and bass sections. The subs section (octave […]

Iron Oxide 2

IronOxide2Demo is the version of Iron Oxide that introduced separate controls for the top and bottom cutoffs of the plugin. It’s got input and output gains, and also was the first Iron Oxide to introduce antialiasing, which it does in an interesting way: it’s applying randomness to the ‘blur’ between adjacent samples, which is a trick […]

ToTape2Demo is the version of ToTape where I brought in antialiasing. The earlier versions of ToTape went through changes mostly relating to the head bump: trying to get it smoother, managing its tendency to become unnaturally enormous. If you like this earlier version of ToTape best, buy the current one and ask me for a copy […]

ADClip2Demo was an experiment, to see how ADClip would be if it had loads of parameters you could alter. Input Gain was a boost, as you’d expect. Edge Smooth is part of the basic ADClip code. It’s letting you scale back the edge softening on clipping: less means harsher edges. Highs Restore is from 3DClip, and […]

ADT2Demo is a universal binary AU plugin to do Automatic Double Tracking- aka fixed flanging/chorusing, as used by the Beatles. Two independent delay taps for normal or inverted ADT, code from Console2 gives you analog-like richness and tone. As you probably know, ADT is simply a single delay tap, very quick. What makes my ADT special […]
