Chrome Oxide is the opposite of Loud in that Loud's artifacts are heard most easily over speakers and hard to hear over headphones, where Chrome Oxide's are hard to hear over speakers but you'll be able to identify them over headphones. Listen for a fuzzy quality on the highs and decide whether it's a kind of 'fuzz' you're okay with using. Lots of analog-style effects are one form or another of distortion- this is just a different one, capable of really going after digital highs even when applied very gently. This is a bad plugin to use if you are wanting to put a big smear of analogyness onto things, unless you're really into Victrolas.
Try the demo of this by
downloading the demo collection! You're not allowed to use the demo for actual work. It politely mutes itself briefly every couple minutes, and that's the only thing it does to spite you. It won't expire or do anything to you, and when you get the actual plugin, throw away the demo and put the real version in its place and most software should replace saved instances of the demo with the real thing seamlessly, retaining any settings. Please support my cooperative, unhostile demos with sales of the real software.
