Compressor is an AU universal binary plugin. This is a 'color', mix compressor with very flexible behavior- sounds like an expensive channel strip. You can bring out whatever you want in the attack. Compressor is $29.99.

 The special thing about Compressor is really its attack- it not only slows the attack when desired, it also delays it slightly so when you're doing 'big attack crushed' effects, the attack will be bigger and more natural. Compressor also has such a wide range of adjustment that it might be hard to work- consider it a specialty compressor rather than a general-purpose one.

 Try the demo of this by downloading the demo collection! You're not allowed to use the demo for actual work. It politely mutes itself briefly every couple minutes, and that's the only thing it does to spite you. It won't expire or do anything to you, and when you get the actual plugin, throw away the demo and put the real version in its place and most software should replace saved instances of the demo with the real thing seamlessly, retaining any settings.
