Psyche Drums is a very unusual kit, modeled after certain Pink Floyd and Police drum sounds- we start with Gretsch kick and floortom, then use a 14" rototom for the high tom for some extra attack. The snare is a modified Ludwig acrolite (keystone badge), but instead of a normal rock drumhead, it's got a Remo Black Max marching snare head (expensive, kevlar/mylar) cranked up ridiculously tight. The brightness comes off the drum, not from EQ, so it sits better in the mix. There's a version with tight, choppy snares and one with looser snares for a glossier sound- toms and kick are recorded with the tighter snare setting. Cymbals are Zildjians for crashes, and Paiste 2002 ride, heavy Paiste Colorsound hats. Psyche Drums is $29.99.

Everything runs though API pre- mic or line. Overs on the 2-buss are caught by ADClip. There's no other buss processing, and no processing of any kind on the EXS drums track- it's dry and exactly as it comes off the EXS24 sampler.
