If it doesn't seem to be doing anything check to see if you're pushing the levels on your faders. It's not supposed to make a 'sound' as much as it is to liberate you from caring about gain staging into the 2-buss.
Try the demo of this by downloading the demo collection! You're not allowed to use the demo for actual work. It politely mutes itself briefly every couple minutes, and that's the only thing it does to spite you.
