This is a very unusual drumkit. It's basically your ultimate Seventies radiofriendly kit for supporting a song without stealing attention for the drums. It's basically a Taye kit with a Tama hammered brass snare, set up in the following way- the kick has a blanket stretched right across its batter head, causing most of the kick ring to come from the toms (recorded in stereo). The snare gets a top-of-the-head damper which bounces up briefly to permit a hint of ring, and then stops it. There's an alternate snare with less damping. The toms are very resonant but all drums are tuned and damped with specks of moongel- in fact, cymbals have specks of moongel too. For cymbals, you've got Zildjian crashes, a Zildjian K Dark Ride, and extremely thin, fluffy-sounding Zildjian hats, all of which is designed to do one thing- produce grooves that drive across all frequencies over all drums and cymbals. Stealth Drums is
$29.99.
Here are some
simple beats using this drumkit.
Here are
some more, this time using my free
Pressure compressor plugin.
You can hear it on this demo track,
Stealth Kit Jam.
This is the EXS24 track soloed,
Stealth Kit Drums Only.
Note that this track makes by far the most extensive use of the percussion sounds that are present (and given identical key assignments) on ALL the kits. The cowbells, claves, two different tambourines, chime tree (!) heard here will still be there if you swap out the kit for another Airwindows drumkit, so study the percussion sounds heard here- all the kits come with all that stuff.
Other Airwindows plugins used on this demo:
No processing on anything, no verb
Bass guitar- Hofner Icon, tapewounds, thumb
Clavi, Rhodes, Hammond- Nord Electro 2
Lead Synth- Nord Lead 2X
Everything runs though API pre- mic or line. Overs on the 2-buss are caught by
ADClip. There's no other buss processing, and no processing of any kind on the EXS drums track- it's dry and exactly as it comes off the EXS24 sampler.
If you can make this free bass guitar EXS24 instrument,
FlatBass, work, you'll be able to use the drumkits. (They go in Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments if you are using Logic 8)
