Airwindows is one guy: me! I am an audio hacker and computer programmer from way back. I seek only to continue my life up here in Vermont, inventing things and putting them onto the internet, sometimes for free and sometimes for pay. My hope is that people richer than me (i.e. most people) don't rob me. My other hope is for another cup of Aeropress. One out of two ain't bad!

PurestSquishDemo is a compressor Audio Unit plugin for maximum transparency and organic squishiness! I’ve designed it for the 2-buss, but it’ll work for many things. It’s got two basic modes: you can use it very gently to ‘float’ the mix elements in a barely perceptible way, or you can lean into it harder for more […]

Console3Demo is the latest Airwindows digital mix buss replacement. That’s right: replacement. It’s not an emulation of anything in particular, it’s not a coat of sonic paint to slap on weak digital recordings, in fact it tries its best to have NO sound of its own and none of the tones you put through it […]

Smooth is a typically Airwindows invention: a plugin that strictly alters texture, without affecting frequency or amplitude. At least, that’s the intention, and the result’s pretty convincing. Used on a distorted guitar, it really brings a softer texture up to the point where it breaks up. Used on something like an over-zingy acoustic guitar, it’s really […]

Shelves is another strange little Airwindows EQ. This one’s a simple two-band shelf… that’s all Airwindows-ized in subtle ways. The crossover’s altered in the way that Highpass and Lowpass are. As near as I can work out, what’s happening is that if you boost Treble, it gets harder. If you cut it, it gets softer. If […]

Lowpass is another strange early Airwindows creation! The top slider is just a frequency control for a one-pole interleaved lowpass, the range covering the full range of sound from silence to Nyquist. The bottom slider’s the one that gets weird. It adjusts between soft and hard, with the middle position being ‘normal lowpass’. Soft means, louder […]

Highpass is a really old one! It’s a simple one-pole Airwindows interleaved highpass filter, but it has a weird control (because of course it does). That control is loose/tight, and it’s one of the most spectacular secret weapons for bass/subs mastering ever. In the middle, it returns a very normal sort of highpass, not too steep […]

If you’re pledging the equivalent of this per year, I’ll happily link you on the sidebar, including a link to your music or project! Quite a few people see this page, and they see it while they’re getting free stuff, so they ought to be favorably disposed to anyone here!
